What is Microspaces VELOCITY®?
Microspaces VELOCITY service is an economical and reliable way of delivering video, data or audio content to many locations at a low, fixed monthly cost. VELOCITY utilizes small inexpensive satellite receiving antennas and digital receivers to collect the content at each remote location. The service is fully addressable and has a high level of security.
What is IP Multicast?
IP Multicast is an extension of Internet Protocol that allows simultaneous one-to-many distributions of IP Data. IP Multicast, coupled with Microspaces VELOCITY, provides a reliable, high bandwidth conduit for streaming video or multimedia file delivery. The technology dramatically conserves bandwidth requirements for Microspace clients. Terrestrial networks typically utilize unicast technology which not only requires more bandwidth but slows down the delivery of content to the remote sites.
What is MPEG?
MPEG stands for Motion Picture Experts Group, which is the industry standard for transmitting digital video and sound in a compressed format, therefore using less bandwidth than the traditional analog methods. MPEG-2 is the de-facto standard in the digital TV world. Microspaces VELOCITY is fully MPEG compliant, thus insuring a high quality of service.
What is DVB?
DVB stands for Digital Video Broadcast, a standard based on MPEG-2 video, data and audio which can be transmitted via satellite. Microspaces VELOCITY is DVB compliant. As a result, you have many options for receive site hardware. No proprietary equipment requirements to be concerned with.
