Microspace Communications Strengthens
Market Position
with
Strong Revenue, Customer Growth in 2004
Leading
Provider of Satellite Content Delivery Sees Increased Demand
for Core Services in 2005 by New Market Segments for Emerging
Business Applications
Raleigh, NC, February 2, 2005 - Microspace
Communications Corporation (Microspace), the leading global
provider of video, data and audio content delivery by satellite,
today announced that it saw strong growth in 2004 in revenue,
new customers and continued success in customer retention
and other core business objectives.
New Customers
The
company’s performance last year in a challenging
telecommunications market bodes well for its prospects
in 2005 as customer demand in the segment further intensifies,
according to Microspace Vice President & General Manager
Joe Amor. Representative new customers included StagePost,
the Christian Radio Consortium, ClubCom and DreamWorks
LLC, while renewing customers included Muzak and WSI Corporation,
among many others.
“
We
enjoyed a solid financial year,” said Amor. “This
continues to be driven by our growing market leadership in
delivering content in key verticals like financial services,
retail and broadcasting/ entertainment for digital signage,
business TV and emerging applications like digital cinema.”
Network
Growth
and Upgrade
In
2004,
Microspace expanded its footprint across additional markets
in Europe and Latin America for its flagship VELOCITY® service,
which enables reliable "point-to-multipoint" delivery
of broadband content via a fixed pricing model that offers
savings of up to 98 percent over terrestrial-based services.
For example, a number of key multinational customers are
benefiting from VELOCITY’S support for next-generation
broadband media to implement distance learning applications
for their global workforce. In addition, the company completed
a substantial upgrade to its Raleigh-based Network Control
Center in support of VELOCITY customers, including additional
uplinks and connectivity to further improve redundancy.
Expanded
Partnerships
Microspace
saw
increased
success in delivering best-of-breed, one-stop-shop solutions
to
existing customers and leveraging new prospects through
its
established IPSatSolution alliance with Broadcast International,
a video-powered
solutions provider, and Helius, the worldwide
leader
in business-class data broadcasting solutions.
In
addition, it partnered with Silver Beacon Media to broaden
its
capabilities in support of digital signage applications,
an
expanding segment for the company which saw 100% growth in
new customers last year. The company also
built
on
its existing partnerships with Helius, International Datacasting
Corp.,
Kencast and Westport Research to further enhance
its
innovative “shared services” offering
in
2004, which enables customers with moderate service requirements
to pay
only for what they need, when they need it.
"Last year, Microspace further demonstrated that it
has the proven business model, versatile and reliable service
and laser-like market focus to succeed,” said Amor. "We
will
continue to build on this success in 2005 with additional
VELOCITY
service capabilities for new business applications, as well
as our established offerings for more traditional
communications
requirements.”
