Microspace and Scala Join Forces
to Offer Shared Network Solutions for Digital Signage
Agreement
provides affordable, easy-to-deploy, managed satellite services
for businesses of all sizes
Raleigh, NC (June 8, 2005) – Microspace
Communications Corporation (Microspace), the leading provider
of point-to-multipoint satellite services, today announced
a partnership with Scala Inc. to offer a shared network
solution for satellite-based digital signage solutions.
Based on Microspace’s VELOCITY® service and Scala’s
InfoChannel software, the new offering enables businesses
to benefit from satellite digital signage solutions without
the need to purchase, deploy or manage a large satellite
network infrastructure. Exton, Pennsylvania-based Scala
is the world’s leading software platform for digital
signage.
“Traditionally, satellite has
been
seen as a solution solely for companies with the need
and funds to transmit
to
hundreds
of locations,” said Joe Amor, vice president
and general manager of Microspace. “Utilizing shared
networks changes those dynamics by greatly reducing the
cost for businesses. The proven performance and reputation
of Scala’s software coupled with our VELOCITY service
provides
an
optimum
solution for businesses requiring economical and reliable
digital signage content delivery
to
multiple
locations.”
Microspace has installed Scala’s InfoChannel software
platform in their Network Control Center, which enables
seamless integration with VELOCITY, Microspace’s
high-speed
video,
data and audio broadcasting service. The Scala software
provides the ability to create, schedule,
manage,
distribute
and dynamically play back unique content to one or thousands
of displays from a single desktop.
Customers
that
require distinct daily content to be displayed at different
sites have the option to manage the content
themselves
or
subscribe to a managed service. Additionally, the shared
network
solution allows customers to pay for content
delivery
by the megabyte for as little as 50 cents per megabyte
during prime time.
“We are very pleased to be partnering with Microspace
and opening the satellite door to businesses of all sizes
that require reliable content delivery,” said Jeffrey
Porter, executive vice president of Scala. “The
cooperation
between our two companies is a huge validation for the
scalability of satellite and the ease of managing
a digital
signage campaign. We look forward to working with Microspace
in lowering the barrier of entry into
satellite-based
digital signage solutions.”
