FMFM

Microspace also supports a variety of lower-speed data broadcast applications. Our fixed monthly costs and open-systems technology have helped to make Microspace the largest private satellite broadcast network in the world. Some of the industries we serve today include the financial, securities, agricultural, personal communications (paging) and weather information organizations. We currently serve the majority of the top paging carriers and many of the leading financial and security information providers, using FMFM technology.

FMFM is a digital transmission system that provides a low-cost, highly reliable one-way data communications path. FMFM subcarrier transmission is a cost-effective method of transmitting audio or data to a large number of receive sites. The service supports data rates from 1200 baud to 64 Kbps. FMFM service utilizes a remote site antenna, (typically .75 meter) LNB, and receiver.

Below is an example of the FMFM service using a terrestrial backhaul.

Today's consumer of paging services requires increased mobility. To meet the demand, paging companies have invested in infrastructure equipment using satellite, RF link, or wireline control. Satellite has proven the most reliable of these solutions while working with today's high speed messaging protocols. Satellite technology has also proven more cost effective while maintaining optimum reliability in delivering pages to the user of the messaging device.

Microspace Communications Corporation supports customers with various satellite data broadcasting options. These services are network and turnkey compatible with most paging infrastructure manufacturers such as Glenayre, Motorola, and Kantronics. Microspace customers have many choices when selecting a service. One very cost-effective option uses our on-site infrastructure control equipment such as Motorola's C-net system controller. The infrastructure hardware, installed at our uplink facility in Raleigh, NC, allows for a reduction of investment in infrastructure control equipment. Microspace offers a number of dedicated channel options to meet your needs. We operate a fully manned, 24/7/365-uplink facility and Network Control Center complemented by a redundant disaster recovery facility located sixteen miles from our main headquarters.
